Moral Issues of Our DayEvolution

EVOLUTION

Most people will not see that the teaching of the theory of evolution has anything to do with morals.  But it seems to me that our acceptance of the idea that humans have evolved from lower life forms is at the very heart of many of our society's ills.

Either there is a God or there is not.  Either the Bible is totally true or it contains some lies or myths.  If it contains even one untruth, it is worthless except as a piece of ancient literature.

The Bible claims that God created man in his own image.  That sets man apart from every other form of life.  But the humanist belief, which has framed much of modern man's thinking, says that man is the most advanced animal in the evolution process.  Nothing more.

If that is true, then killing a human fetus is no different than drowning an unwanted puppy.  When a human's life no longer has a given quality - snuff it out.  After all, They Shoot Horses, Don't They?  Every act of crime is just acting on our primal animal instincts.  Morality is what society says it is.  There is no "right and wrong"; there is only "rights."  Interestingly, animal rights are equal to human rights.  It's only logical.

All this is not too far from the reasoning of our society, is it?  Evolution devalues human life.  We spend a lot of effort trying to improve our children's "self image", yet they are constantly bombarded with the teaching that they are just an evolved animal.  If we are simply the top of the animal chain, you are contradicting yourself to try to persuade anyone that humans are very valuable or have much real significance.  If, as the New Age Movement says, we are our own god, we have very little reason for hope when we are no longer young and beautiful... or when old age comes.

When life holds no hope, our young people kill one another and, commit suicide and our old people are obsessed with dying easy.  Listen to the lyrics of the songs of our society's youth - there is an obsession with death!

No one knows where we're going or why we're here.  So New Agers have revived an old belief of reincarnation.  Give us enough lives and experiences and we'll get it all figured out.

But if God created man in his own image and loves us enough to redeem us from this hopeless mess we've gotten ourselves into... then we must be valuable.

That's the message of the Bible!  Every human is valuable.  God wants you to live with Him forever.  Jesus gave his followers the ultimate message of encouragement and hope just before he left this earth.  He said, "I'm coming back to take you home with me and we will live together forever."

Modern science says you are one big accident and there is no purpose for your life - if it feels good, do it!  The Bible says God created you and has a purpose for your life and has an eternal future for you.
