Moral Issues of Our DayHomosexuality

HOMOSEXUALITY

Let me begin by saying that God loves everybody.  But that does not mean that God approves of what everybody does.

I think we have equated God's love with God's approval.  They're not the same.  We have forgotten that God is righteous. Righteousness is God's primary characteristic.  "Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a disgrace to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34).

Maybe our problem is that we have done away with sin.  Nothing is sin anymore.  When you reject the concept of absolute authority, obviously the concept of sin has no meaning.  So... "If it feels good, do it!"

But there are still some of us who believe the Bible is true and authoritative.  The Bible says that certain acts are sin.  God hates sin.

Romans chapter 1 explains the progressive steps that man takes in departing from God and righteousness.  It begins with man's arrogance in elevating his own reasoning powers over God's word.  The next step is to change God and begin worshipping nature.  Next, men become grossly immoral (including homosexuality - Romans 1:26-27).  Then, being in such opposition to everything God represents, man decides, "There is no God!"

You tell me where America is.

Regardless of what our Supreme Court rules, regardless of the fact that some churches are ordaining homosexuals, regardless of the fact that states allow homosexual couples to adopt children - homosexuality is sin.  It always has been, it always will be.

The real issue is - who is the supreme authority - God or man?  God condemned homosexuality in both the Old Testament (Leviticus 20:13, etc.) and the New Testament (Romans 1:26-27, 32) and made it a capital offense punishable by death!

You say that's not your God?  Then you have the wrong God.  There is only one true God.

Sin has consequences.  Every sin does.  God can be very severe.  He sent a flood and destroyed a wicked world (Genesis 6-8).  He killed every person in the wicked twin cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because of their involvement in homosexuality (Genesis 19).  He killed a husband and wife because they lied about how much money they gave to the church (Acts 5).

Does this mean that God is not a God of love?  Absolutely not.  It means that God is also righteous.  He is serious about righteousness.  He knows what sin does to individuals and societies.

Does this mean that a person who has been involved in sin cannot be forgiven?  Absolutely not!  The solution for every sin (including homosexuality) is the same - Repentance!  That's our door of hope.

We are all sinners.  We are all tempted and we all sin.  That sin separates us from our righteous and loving God.

The real tragedy is that so many people ignorantly get caught in a destructive lifestyle and never realize that God loves them and will forgive.

"God... is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9).
