Moral Issues of Our Day

Moral Issues of Our Day

Booklet published by
Ken Stegall

The invitation to one of our community's company Christmas party had the following footnote: "Leave your drugs at home." Our, highest government officials are accused of every immoral and illegal act imaginable... who cares? Does anyone even expect anything different?

We drag the sickest, most immoral of our society to the television studio and applaud and laugh at their perversions.

Tolerance has become the sign of intelligence and enlightenment. Our society will tolerate anything and everything except someone who believes in an absolute standard of right and wrong.

Even major religious Christian groups are abandoning the Bible as outdated and ineffective to address our needs in the twenty-first century. We've outgrown it. We ridicule it.

While speaking to a group of students in Russia recently, they were asking questions about America. They were curious about everything. One student asked, "Does everyone in America study the Bible in school?" I said, "No, it is no longer legal to teach the Bible in American schools." Everyone's eyes grew large and someone said, "I thought America was free! We can study the Bible in our schools!" ... What would you have said?

IS there, anyone who cares? Yes, there is. Some of those concerned people have asked me to write a series of articles on Moral Issues of Our Day, and publish them in our local paper. They have donated the money to pay the expenses for these articles. I have agreed knowing that there are some individuals in our community who will become incensed and hostile. It's a sign of our times. Those who advocate tolerance are the most intolerant. Those who accuse others of being judgmental are themselves the first judge... and the harshest.

When evil is exposed by using God's word, those who are offended must do everything within their power to discredit both the message and the messenger. Jesus said it this way; "Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed." (John 3:20).

This series of articles will be written with the conviction that the Bible is God's word to mankind, that it is totally true and that it is as applicable today as it was when it was originally delivered.

These articles are not written with superiority or arrogance because we are all sinners. We are all in the same boat - we are unrighteous. But Jesus Christ is the answer to our problem. He wants to give us life and peace. But we will never come to know his blessings until we accept our true condition. Calling cancer by any other name is not the answer.

I know that there are many who are as concerned about the moral decline of our society as I am. We are not being wise to be silent - so we will speak. Read the topics below. God bless you.
